Selecting the Right SWR Pipes and Fittings for Industrial and Residential Use
Whether in a commercial office space, a mall, or your home, a right and compatible SWR drainage system for wastewater keeps the environment clean, sanitary, and safe. It properly disposes of soil, wastewater, and rainwater from your roof, balcony, basement, or anywhere else, preventing clogs, filth, and foul odours that might affect your daily activities.
This is where Soil Waste Rainwater (SWR) pipes come into play; a drainage system dedicated to managing proper runoff of contaminated water. It ensures that water and waste are moved away from buildings efficiently and safely, reducing possible risks of filth collection and providing residents with a clean and hygienic environment. Two popular materials preferred in SWR pipes are Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and Polypropylene (PP), each with distinct properties and advantages. Understanding these distinctions is important to select the appropriate SWR pipes compatible with your building’s drainage system.
Understanding the Types of SWR Pipes and Fittings
- PVC SWR Pipes and Fittings: PVC pipes are the traditionally used type that ensures a consistent and reliable operation of wastewater systems in residential and commercial buildings. It can withstand chemicals, fire, stress and high-pressure conditions, and handle prolonged exposure to varying environmental conditions in residential and commercial buildings. Moreover, these pipes do not corrode or degrade when exposed to acids, alkalis or other contaminants.
- Polypropylene SWR Fittings and Pipes: PP is known for its durability and flexibility which can withstand harsh temperatures and severe impact. It boasts exceptional chemical resistance and is recommended for industrial facilities and environments with aggressive chemical exposure.
Choosing the Right SWR Pipes for Residential and Industrial Use
To ensure compatibility and efficiency you must first comprehend your area’s requirements including its condition and then select the pipe. Using inappropriate SWR fittings or pipes can lead to misalignments, resulting in blockages and leaks that can give way to serious issues such as an unhealthy environment, filth collection, and increased maintenance expenses.
At Astral Pipes, understanding the need for quality and multi-application SWR drainage systems we have two core products that meet all your requirements. These pipes adhere to both international and national certifications including, Indian Standards, British Standards, European Norms, and Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization).
1. Drain Pro SWR Pipes

Drain Pro is built to endure heavy loads and high pressures, making it ideal for demanding applications in residential and commercial settings.
Compatibility: The PP material can handle high temperatures and harsh chemical contents. Such capability makes it ideal for handling caustic chemicals in labs, hospitals and residential buildings with high-traffic piping system requirements.
Standards: These pipes are designed for gravity drainage systems within a structure’s sanitary pipework or layout following DIN EN 12056 and DIN 1986-100. They can handle continuous temperatures up to 90°C (intermittently up to 95°C) and aggressive wastewater with a pH of 2 to 12. Moreover, its fire resistance is rated B2 per DIN 4102 and D – s2, d0 per EN 13501-1.
2. Drainmaster SWR Fittings and Pipes
Made of traditional and popular PVC material, Drainmaster has excellent impact strength, waste disposable capabilities and corrosion resistance. It is available in two versions, Selfit and Ringfit ensuring leak-free joints and easy maintenance.
